14/11/08  SNIFFING OUT THE STORY

Well, my local newspaper 'The Bridgwater Mercury' has posted the 'Macabre Myth' article on their website: ahead of the Tuesday print.  If you'd like to have a read, the link is:

I'd like to clarify, however, that there has been a bit of confusion with the word 'graphic' before the word 'novel'.  'Macabre Myth' is a normal, words, words and more words novel and not of the graphic variety (though I did take a wild stab at this on one occasion).  Still, that little detail aside, I think I can appreciate a bit of media coverage:  even if it is on a humble scale.

13/11/08  THIS TIME YOU WRITE AND I'LL READ

The most observant amongst you will notice that I've put up a new section entitled 'Reader Reviews'.  As it says on the tin, basically:  I'm going to keep popping by Amazon.co.uk and politely pinch their delightful customer compliments, so those of you who are considering buying 'A Macabre Myth of a Moth-man' and can't be arsed to go to Amazon can get the low-down right here.

Know that I'm trying to give as fair and ranged opinion as possible and I appreciate any and all feedback.  If you haven't got an Amazon account, but would like to post a review, feel free to fill in the form on the 'Contact' page and I'll post it up as soon as possible,

Activity on 'Book II' and (to some extent) 'Macabre Myth' marketing events will be slow over the next few weeks, as I'm currently working on a super-special art project, as part of a close friend's Christmas present.  Incidentally, although I have yet to post up those video links and interviews I promised, I will hopefully be posting up a gallery of my 'not-moth-related' artwork in the New Year.

Oh, and locals of Bridgwater needn't panic- this week's Bridgwater Mercury was obviously dedicated to the once-a-year Bridgwater Carnival, so my article and interview will probably now feature next Tuesday instead.

10/11/08  A LOCAL ARTICLE FOR LOCAL PEOPLE

Those of you fortunate enough to be living in my hometown of Bridgwater in Somerset, England, will no doubt be getting your copy of the Bridgwater Mercury tomorrow.  No, I don't mean for all the lovely, full-colour pictures of this year's Guy Fawkes Carnival- I mean for the 'In The Spotlight' feature with yours truly.

The Mercury will be running an article to help me promote 'A Macabre Myth of a Moth-Man' in the local area and for those of you not acquainted with 'In The Spotlight', it's your basic, short answer, 'getting to know the real you' interview.  For anyone who doesn't live that close to me (which I'm praying is the majority of you), I will post the interview and the article on moth-man.co.uk for you to share and enjoy.

What with 'Macabre Myth' still in its fledgling days, I'm focusing most of my efforts on getting word of it out.  For those of you who've already been sold into Moth's world and are thirsty for more... just thought I'd let you know I'm well into the furious planning and 'synopsis' stages of Book II and Christmas 2009 is looking like as tantalising a release as any...

28/10/08  OVER TO YOU, <YOUR NAME HERE>

Well, 'A MACABRE MYTH OF A MOTH-MAN' has now been available for a month and in the spirit of any fledgling 'cult hit', word of it spreads further and further every week.  Which is where you fine people come in.

Unlike a certain boy wizard -who can sell millions of books in the first day and a mention on every scrap of paper or television screen in the nation- 'A MACABRE MYTH OF A MOTH-MAN' is taking a somewhat more subtle approach.  Half of the joy of its marketing will be down to you.  Have you read it?  What did you think of it?

Don't just let us know- let EVERYONE know!  If you want word of Moth's exploits to get out then it couldn't be easier, what with the wonder-tool that is the worldwide web.  How about pasting a review on Amazon?  How about becoming a fan of the 'Macabre Myth of a Moth-man' page on Facebook?  How about inviting others to join?  How about giving your mates this sites web-address?

Or how about just telling people 'I read this really good book the other day' and see the madness of gossip in all its natural elegance.

Like the book?  Let people know! :)  It won't beat that boy wizard, but it'll certainly be sticking up for the little guy!
